Your Entire Control Room Fits in a Backpack: YoloBox Extreme

There's a specific kind of dread that hits about twenty minutes before a live event starts. Cameras to check, audio to ride, a stream key to paste, and a laptop that's picked right now to install updates. I know that dread well. The YoloBox Extreme exists to kill it.

YoloBox Extreme

The YoloBox Extreme — switcher, encoder, monitor, and recorder in one 4.4-lb box.

What it is

The YoloBox Extreme is an 11.2-inch all-in-one live production box: switcher, encoder, monitor, and recorder in a single unit. Eight HDMI inputs, NDI wireless sources, cellular bonding, and a 10-hour battery — it's the whole control room, minus the table. It's $2,298, and it's in stock now.

What stood out in our hands

The screen runs the whole show. The 11.2-inch OLED touchscreen (2.5K, up to 1000 nits, 120Hz) stays readable in direct sunlight, and everything happens on it — switching, the per-input audio mixer, scoreboards, lower thirds, overlays. No laptop on the table. When you're calling a game from the sideline, that matters: you see every source, you tap, you're live.

Live at the ballpark — four HDMI sources, scoreboard overlay, streaming and recording at once.

It records everything, separately. While you're streaming the program in 4K, the Extreme is quietly recording isolated feeds from your cameras — up to four in 4K30, or six in 1080p60 — to SD, USB, or SSD. After the game, the highlight reel is already sitting on a drive. No re-ingesting footage, no re-syncing audio.

It doesn't care about the venue's Wi-Fi. Built-in 4G LTE (pop in a nano-SIM), Wi-Fi 7, gigabit Ethernet, plus USB modem support — bond the connections together and the stream holds up in a field house with forty phones hammering the same access point. The 10,000mAh battery runs up to 10 hours. A full tournament day with no wall outlet in sight. And if you want to roam, the companion phone app puts source switching, overlays, and audio in your pocket.

Where it earns its keep

Saturday youth sports. Six cameras around the field, a live scoreboard, instant replay on the big play. One person runs the entire broadcast from the sideline, live five minutes out of a backpack. That's not a hypothetical — it's the exact rig working streamers keep describing.

Multi-camera football broadcast

Eight HDMI sources, instant replay, scoreboard — one operator.

The volunteer church crew. Nobody on the team is a broadcast engineer, and nobody needs to be. Touch the camera you want, drag the lower third on, tap Go Live. The learning curve is an afternoon, not a semester.

Who it's for — and who should skip it

If you're running multi-camera productions — sports, worship, events, corporate — this replaces a switcher, an encoder, a laptop, and a recorder in a single purchase. If you're a single-camera streamer talking into one webcam, it's overkill; you'd be paying for inputs you'll never plug in.

The bottom line

The YoloBox Extreme is the box I'd hand anyone who's tired of the table-full-of-gear dread. $2,298, in stock now, and it fits in a backpack.
